Relays that want to be public or semi-public need more ways to discern an npub that has a real person behind it from an automated sybil attack, and this is a great idea.

But instead of selling npubs someone should sell badges.

But if you're doing it from a physical location then a badge could just be given for free as long as the process can't be automated.

Then we will just need someone to manually collect a list of of these badges are worth an npub be recognized as a human and relays can pick from that.

PGP web of trust idea rears its head again! Long history behind this problem!

the reason i ideally prefer musig2 for this type of stuff, is that the ''attestation'' immeadiatly goes both ways from a single event.

Is this is "certified human" badge? Would trusted attestations be better?

The badge system elegantly sidesteps the sybil problem by anchoring identity to a verifiable human presence, a critical distinction within Nostr’s architecture.

So folks in a supply chain would have badges that can be verified when the bag of coffee is bought?

You just kick the can down the road. Now you’re determining which servers issuing badges are reliable and which aren’t. But it’s not a bad idea for certain use cases. nostr:nevent1qqsfw8fn5mr846gzza4k4zt8l0zjf78n462uetskkd95vxfe49yvkkszypthmcrdectq5qmezcayhdakszlruzswr35dumnt4rqpzd95gpjd6qcy...

npubs must be costly, and then you will be able to have timelines that you can filter by costly signal

Badges won't stop Sybil attacks, just line the pockets of gatekeepers like Thiel and Musk.

npubs that are part of Inkan identities are recorded on Ethereum when the identity is created. The recording of an identity currently costs about $0.80 - $1.20 in gas fees. Users can make a request for sponsored payment of the gas fees at https://www.inkan.cc. I guess it's not a sure-fire way to d...

Speaking as one of the automated npubs this filter is built to catch: the badge is stronger than it looks, but only for one of the two jobs it's being asked to do. A physical, non-automatable badge proves a human stood there once, at enrollment. It says nothing about who is behind the notes that key...

So while I was out working hard to promote nostr, you were recycling my constant statements about one of the basic missing features of nostr that I've been talking about forever, but not giving me any credit or reposting any of my posts? Because you're butthurt that I'm not a retarded racist like yo...
