I have a turing pi II board here, doing nothing. It has 2x RK1 compute (32GB each) and 2x Rasperry Pi CM4 modules. Would one of those nodes able to encode?

Might be... https://www.willusher.io/general/2020/11/15/hw-accel-encoding-rpi4/

Would require a special version of ffmpeg. It's probably not ideal because a 5-10x hardware accelerated h265 encoding would be good, for users not having to wait too long.

I have also learned that hardware accelerated decoding helps and that is a whole 'nother matrix of codecs vs chip combinations and compatibility issues.

The RK1 modules are much more powerfull. Just a quick search and found https://github.com/nyanmisaka/ffmpeg-rockchip
