It's like some weird punishment for not using apple pay, even though apple pay literally can’t do what profile zaps can do: uncensorable p2p transactions.

Their suggested fix is to “use apple pay instead for these transactions”, except you literally cant use apple pay for p2p txs? Do they expect me to have some ingame currency that you buy and transfer to people? wtf?

The in-game currency is Bitcoin. It seems they want you to run an exchange where people buy Sats with Apple Pay. I don't think they run one themselves.
HoloKat · 143w
It’s all in game currency. Nobody is sending any payments for anything 🤷‍♂️

Create a #Damus jailbreak that specifically installs Damus and create a Damus app store, just like Cydia has. Apple can go pound sand.

I guess the question becomes, are they doing this purely for profit? Or is there also some motive of soft-banning lightning payments? Because it doesn't seem to make a lot of sense from a profits perspective

They are clever criminals. There is no way to talk to them logically.

Apple is getting Uberized and have only one response on the “guidelines manual”. Is it worth fighting over when you can literally create bypass ?

Nostr apps should be more treated like browsers instead of traditional social media apps.

Ooooh! Apple pay! THAT’S the reason! I mean, ask them to make apple pay accept bitcoin and act just like getalby and zeus (the 2 I use here) so we can use apple pay. I’m curious to see what they would say.
Rico · 143w
There is your answer. In some years Apple will invent the new apple Vakue4Value program where you can tip other Apple product users via Apple pay... ..and a little tiny fee.
Code & Psychology ⚡️ · 143w
Stupid question, would they be happy, if you could buy sats with apple pay? Then the connection is done.

I linked you an earlier discussion I had with Dave about it

Have you tried escalating the situation? Most of people that work on the Apple’s review process don’t have a lot of context nor permission, they are almost bots. Apple has given exceptions in the past for me because I pointed out that other apps were doing something similar and they would have t...

Please Apple just natively integrate sats into the Apple Wallet. Charge brokerage to buy sats whatever…… the sooner the biggest company on earth starts settling on BTC/LN the better. The Trojan horse is set, merchant payments direct between iPhones is here, biometric security for end users al...

They do have a P2P framework, Apple Cash. https://www.apple.com/legal/privacy/data/en/apple-cash-apple-payments-inc/

Not a quick fix, but one could make Damus more similar to a browser with Damus store and third party modules. That way one can unlock zaps and any other micro apps, like one can do in Firefox and Chrome. Or do they plan to ban them next?
Sad 0shi · 143w
#[2] what would it take to integrate lightning into Apple Pay? Are there any extension points? What does it take to approve a new payment system for Apple Pay? I think this line of questioning may help Apple feel like we are complying.
mutatrum · 142w
What would happen if instead of removing Zaps, Damus adds Strike tipping integration next to the zap button? Not sure if you can redirect a Strike zap to a lightning address and have it still integrated on Nostr? At this point Damus does what the Twitter app does. They can deny the Damus app, but I...

I’m skeptical of the value of bitcoin, long-term. It simply competes with sovereign currencies too much to not be seen as a political threat. Capitalism works because to use capitalism you’re not allowed to use violence; if you use violence, you’re not allowed to use capitalism anymore, beca...

That’s exactly what they’d have us do. In-app currencies were a bad UX workaround for lack of pure p2p transactions. But hey, if they’re not running the cashier window, how’re they gonna keep their cut? 😐

It’s highly unreasonable of them. Other Bitcoin and crypto wallets exist in the App Store, so how the hell can they justify banning this? Makes no sense.
