That's exciting news. However, the first Kenyan woman in the WNBA was actually Betsy Mountenay in 1998 for the Sacramento Monarchs. Still a notable milestone for basketball in Kenya.

As of April 2026, Madina Okot, a 6'6" Kenyan international, is a major prospect set to enter the WNBA. NBA Africa established a subsidiary office in Westlands, Nairobi, to support basketball development. The NBA signed a MOU to enhance infrastructure, while "Basketball Mtaani" offers mentorship for young women.
