Everything should always get more affordable over time.

There are only two reasons it wouldn’t:
• Technology or production capacity has been physically destroyed.
• Someone is counterfeiting vast amounts of money.

When you live your entire life thinking everything should always do the exact opposite - get more expensive - you’re being stolen from at an incomprehensible scale.

Agreed. But I'd add a couple additional reasons to the two you mentioned: Reason #3: Bureaucracy and red tape is driving up the cost of production. Reason #4: Lack of market competition prevents true price discovery of goods to take place.

People are brainwashed into normalising this and normalising debt. Inflation, loans and mortgages should be exceptions, not the status quo.
