Why does it feel like the US has been stuck in time with NYE firework shows?

I’m seeing dragon drone shows in Shanghai, the world’s largest firework explode in Japan and multiple venues around the world with jaw dropping pyrotechnics.

Meanwhile we get the same old ball drop. 🫠

Fireworks are literally burning money. The US is far, far ahead at this game. We just use a different source and ignition for display. Apologies, dear NYE pageantry-enjoyer, but money for the bread and circuses is currently being diverted to fund multiple, very important and totally legitimate wars on foreign soil for the benefit of Not America. Please do your part and feign amazement at these leftovers from celebrations past.

Reminder that the USA is stuck in a 1950’s timeline that creates conflict to gather wealth from war They fail at healthcare. They fail at basic budgets. So the ball drop is the best you will get.

Seattle has the best NYE show in the country.

Personally I like unchanging traditions as they ground us and connect us to the past. Also showing off is offensive to my puritan values.
