buy a bunch of lightweight internal box magazine hunting rifles in 7mm Remington Magnum, put a fixed 10x mil dot scope on there, and issue two per squad. keep the weight to about 7.5 lb per rifle total package. this can be done for under $2000 per gun even if you're buying gucci shit
however this should be unnecessary for a properly equipped infantry unit. where's the M240B? 60mm mortars? were they restricted from using anything but carbines by some gay ROE?
