I don't think there's any point in dickwaving on whose dictator could beat up the other dictator in barbarity.
The point is that the hammer and sickle represents an idea much bigger than the Soviet Union ever lived up to and it deserves to be recognised for those ideas and not the failed emperors who hid behind them.
Swastika meant "good luck" before the Nazis took it. Not much to reclaim there, is there?
