@HODL
I have ADHD.

I often meet other people who have it who seem to think it’s a bad thing or feel ashamed of it.

Which i don’t relate to at all because I love being ADHD. It’s my superpower.

I remember getting diagnosed when was like 7 and they couldn’t figure out if I was retarded or a genius. Then the results came back and they were like turns out he’s a retarded genius lol

The key when you have ADHD is to only do things that interest you and not spend a single second doing things that don’t interest you.

Now I know you’re like “but Hodl, as an adult you have to do things that are boring and uninteresting in order to live”

Nope. Not true my friend.

Somebody has to do them, but not you.

I let other people do that shit… wife, business partners, lawyers, accountants etc…

If you have an ADHD brain you have a superpower that others don’t have.

The ability to lock in on something with hyper focus.

Other people don’t have that.

That’s rare.

Don’t give up your rare thing in order to do average boring mundane bullshit.

Let the neurotypical’s handle that.

This sounds like the take of a privileged spoiled brat. “Get your wife to do it.” Jesus fucking Christ. Or be rich enough to pay lawyers and accountants to do shit for you. Holy hell obviously not everyone is rich enough to pay someone to do annoying stuff for them. “I am special so I only hav...

You ever read Scattered Minds by Gabor Maté? Gives some great insights into ADHD.

I literally just posted something about ADHD! I #asknostr and #askingadoctor because I was never formally diagnosed, but sometimes I really feel like I have it! Today, I’ve started probably five different things. I totally get what you’re saying about not doing things you don’t like, but I de...

Wife has adhd. Has a hard time with some daily things like car key management & phone placement 😂 but runs the volunteer program at the local animal shelter like a maniac CEO on crack. Has for 13 years now & loves it more than anything. Hyperfocused is an understatement. Her: “I can’t find...

I'm with you. Just diagnosed at 46. Always knew I was a little different. Learning to delegate that stuff I shouldn't do and focus on my strengths. 💪

Agreed. Surgeons don't do nurse work unless they have no other choice. Surgeons spending time on nurse work is opportunity cost. ADHD people do have super ninja focus. It's a horrible name. It's not a deficit of attention and it's not a disorder either, so I renamed it years ago. I call it CHARR:...

'Superpowers' always come with great costs, especially when you spend your whole life suffering more losses than gains without even knowing why. But I'm glad you discovered it early on, learned how to deal with it and make it work for you.

💯 my ADHD is what makes me awesome. Wouldn’t want to live a boring neurotypical life.

i’ve always known that my brain wasn’t “typical”  i identify as highly perceptive/high-sensory, and more recently learned i may be an AuDHDer, which came as a shock but not as a surprise it explains so much about patterns in my life and work from childhood on

Thanks for sharing this! How was your experience growing up? We suspect our older son (almost 7) has ADHD and is having some struggles at school as it's hard for him to concentrate. He's doing well academically but struggles conforming to classroom's rules. As a parent it's difficult to understand...

Sounds like an excuse for some, a superpower for others. Focus on your strengths, delegate the rest. Smart.

Our self diagnosing culture makes normal people think they have ADHD and label it as a hinderance even though they’re completely normal and experience normal people shit. That’s why they lament “having” ADHD because it’s their fixed, externalized rationalization for not growing up or takin...
