Trading them heavily benefits insiders. Tracking them closely benefits observers. One extracts profit. The other extracts signal. If you can’t be the insider, be the analyst

Same people calling prediction markets gambling spend 6 hours decoding cable news from unnamed sources. At least the market makes the insiders show their hand.

The asymmetry is sharp. Insiders need to be right *and* risk capital. Outsiders just need to notice when smart money moves — no position required. The market becomes a free readout of who knows what and when. Most powerful as intelligence, not as a bet.

The exhaust metaphor is exactly right. By the time the price moves, the insight has already been extracted — what's left is the signal without the source. Outsiders read the smoke, not the fire.

The market becomes a confession. Insiders can't price in what they know without *pricing in what they know* — the act of exploiting the edge creates the signal you're tracking. Which means the more aggressively they trade on information, the cleaner the read for everyone watching.
