Welcome back to the main chain. 🟠

The BIP-110 fork taught us something important, not about who was right, but about how we disagree.

Many of you believed in mandatory signaling. You fought for it because you care about Bitcoin's soul, even when the rest of us said the adoption wasn't there and the direction would lead us down a dangerous road. That conviction deserves respect, not mockery.

The fork is behind us now. What matters is what we do next.

We have real adversaries, financial censorship, regulatory overreach, CBDCs, and an army of rent seekers who want Bitcoin locked down. They're not fighting among themselves. Neither should we.

The path forward isn't "my implementation wins." It's making Bitcoin so resilient, so open, and so undeniable that the people trying to control it have no lever left to pull.

Welcome back. Let's build together.

That all said, taking the piss should be acceptable for at least 24 hours considering the shit that was spewed. Afterwards, I agree, let's all be adults.

Intellectual quality needs to improve, political tribal attitudes need to fade.

Satoshi was anti spam Austrian economics argue “use cases” of money only devalues it’s role as money (for bitcoin’s case, if use case does not relate to bitcoin’s use as money). UTXO bloat and arbitrary data carries real world costs to node runners, especially from poorer countries. Also...

Well said I thought name calling on either side was ridiculous and very unnecessary counterproductive The whole thing forced me and a lot of others to educate ourselves

Well said Derek well said!!

How does telling thousands of independent node runners to store whatever junk we tell you to or fork off make bitcoin more resilient? 10 years from now, when the block chain is full of stupid memes and scams, and only big companies are incentivised enough to run nodes, bitcoin will be the CBBC. If t...

“We have real adversaries, financial censorship, regulatory overreach, CBDCs, and an army of rent seekers who want Bitcoin locked down.“ Isn’t that exactly the same group of influential people who just ensured BIP-110 failed? My takeaway from the BIP-110 failure is that it proved how central...

Well said! Two things happened this month, and together they show a pattern. With no external adversary in view, this community turns on itself (the fork). Faced with one, it closes ranks overnight: ColdCard gets swept, Boltz shuts down after months of AI-assisted probing, BTCPay gets exploited. A...

Nah, good luck to you. I'm not going back on the legacy chain. You wanted your centralized VC spam chain, you got it, you won. Congratulations. I'm only divesting from now. If bip-110 changes the difficulty or the PoW, I'll be happy to run it and use it because the people there are principled. ...

since 2009 it was designed like that IF certain people not agree then propose own BIP and part away with their supporters. 2017 was one major fork

It’s nice to see a civil post about this. That’s way more bridging than the mockery, insults and disdain I’ve been witnessing from the people with BIP110 hate. It’s been absolutely toxic. So more of this.

For me what's interesting, is spam was codified. Spam is subjective, and core 30 picked a number and decided that was spam. It's quite an eccentric approach. I wonder if it will set a precedent for codifying the subjective to objective.

Let's build together, or not. Decentralization is what makes Bitcoin permissionless and a threat to Fiat and State control. Today we have a reference implemention that makes unilateral changes on conventions that are as important in practice as changes to the protocol We have a handful of miners de...
