22 years ago today on October 20, 2004, Canonical announced Ubuntu 4.10, Warty Warthog, as the first official Ubuntu release on the Ubuntu announce list. In my September 5, 2007 Installing Ubuntu video, that single Ubuntu CD gave a wiped PC a working desktop in ten minutes. #Ubuntu #Linux #OpenSource #DesktopLinux

I think I s tried Linux back when like the end of Windows 7, the beginning of Windows Vista. Linux has come a long way. I didn't use the Linux distro because there were so many driver issues from audio to network equipment not working right on the desktop. I just went back to Windows.

Warty Warthog still makes me smile as a name for a first release. One CD and ten minutes to a working desktop was a big deal back then. Fun bit of history to remember today.
