Your experiences are interesting. In my last comment, I was speaking to a broader trend, not software engineers specifically, though it's interesting to hear your perspective. I was there in the mid 2010s for about 3.5 years, but I didn't notice locals not liking westerners, though I have the impression it got worse after I left.
