I woke up to one once while visiting someone in California. I was so confused! The bed was shaking. Items on shelves we clinking. I wasn't sure if I should run outside, naked, and embarrass myself while saving my life; or if I should keep my dignity, and die in bed like an idiot.

The shaking continued for quite some time, and I decided that going outside in a sheet was a good compromise. By then, it stopped. There were a couple of aftershocks, and it was over.

During a separate event, my mom was in the paint isle of Home Depot. She said cans started flying off the shelves, splattering paint everywhere.
