I have been hearing some concerns about Linux Mint's ability to maintain the Cinnamon desktop.

As in they don't have the resources and developers to manage the conflicts with the newer GTK versions and keeping up with what needs to be done in Cinnamon.

Do you think those concerns are overblown? Or legitimate?

In any case, I am glad that I considered XFCE as an alternative to Cinnamon and I am having a good time exploring and customizing XFCE now.
