Can they effectively ban these currencies and networks? Or just stop the exchanges in their jurisdiction?

You can use haveno-reto.com they lists all existing currencies and being a localmonero replacement.

LN doesn't offer measurable privacy. It hasn't been part of design spec until recently and its still unreliable and unquantifiable.

Saying "Europe is a totalitarian state" is a bit over the top imo, there are still plenty of options that offer Lightning. But I do agree Kraken has gone from great to a trash exchange. Before removing Lightning they changed partner in Germany which basically meant redoing an even crazier KYC to b...
