If the offence is past the defence of the opposing team before a player passes them the ball, it's offside. If they pass the defence whilst the ball is in motion already, it's fine.

I might add.. it has to involve 2 players from the defending team too. One of them is usually the goalkeeper. Although, if the goal keeper isn't involved there must be a second defender involved for it to be offside. The law is "second to last opponent" for the offside rule to kick in. Plus, the o...
