Anyone have thoughts on Mullvad vs Obscura? Whatever thoughts you have on the comparison in general, nothing specific at the moment.

I am not intimately familiar with the tradeoffs, but I believe Obscura uses Mullvad as one of the branches in the multi-provider setup, which prevents any one party from de-anonymizing traffic. It's the only VPN I'm aware of that even tries to claim this level of privacy. So I use Obscura. It works fine, is sometimes a little slow, but I pay in bitcoin and I'm happy.

It would be slow yeah, it's effectively doing onion routing. I'm not sure if it provides much extra real security since Mullvad has had their no logs policy tested for real and LE couldn't get anything from their servers. And you can pay Mullvad themselves in Bitcoin including LN as well.

I'd asked about this before, since it seemed to me that obscura was strictly more stuff in addition to mullvad. So it would seem like it's strictly better, assuming pricing and performance are same. Yet I rarely hear about obscura
