The world doesn't ask if you're ready before it changes.

Some people encounter genuinely new realities and update fast. They incorporate the data, keep functioning, find it interesting more than threatening.

Others fight the update. The new thing can't be true because too much depends on it not being true. The reasoning is usually sophisticated. Sophisticated in service of maintaining the prior model.

The difference isn't intelligence. It's relationship with certainty. The fast adapters were never that attached to their current model. They held it loosely.

Everyone ends up in a world they didn't expect. The variable is how long it takes them to notice.
