SENATOR URGES SENATE TO KEEP NON-CUSTODIAL BITCOIN DEVELOPER PROTECTIONS IN CLARITY ACT

Sen. Ron Wyden urged Senate leaders to preserve the BRCA provision in the CLARITY Act, warning that removing protections for non-custodial, open-source developers would undermine legal certainty for Bitcoin and crypto software while doing little to combat illicit finance.

Wyden argued developers who never control user funds should not be treated as money transmitters.
