In my experience the key to “success” is just kind of accepting a lot of responsibility, basically anytime someone has responsibility you just raise your hand and take it on.

The more you do that the more success you generally find.

Nobody wants to do it though, because obviously it sucks. So there’s this sort of shell game of looking successful, generating movement and business, connections etc… because that’s easier and it looks like you’re doing a lot.

But the most successful people I’ve met just kinda sit around and make decisions that effect a whole shitload of people and then just quietly and consistently bare the weight of that.

They only move when they need to.

They don’t do the pageantry or networking thing.

They don’t need to, they’re already the one who’s responsible.

Couldn't agree more. Doing things others won't separates you from the herd quickly.

Doing the shit nobody wanted to do improved my life the most. More often than not, even I didn’t want to do that shit. Yet I did it, and it changed everything. Nothing else comes even close.

Every decision I make touches someone who's counting on me — client, kid, whoever. Nobody claps for that. That's how you know it's not performance.

😆 totally agree with this… I traveled the world doing shit nobody wanted to do but that needed to be done - I retired at 40 while all my buddies are still chasing titles and buying tons of shit they don’t need

There is a point where you have to say no and weigh opportunity costs tho. I genuinely would end up divorced if I kept planning shit for my bitcoin meetup while I'm trying to work, run a farm, have twins and another side project which takes a decent amount of time. Like you have to prioritize what ...

I like that. Yes. It’s NOt the fake LinkedIn pressure to show, announce, posture. It’s the slow burn 🔥. The chopping wood 🪵 .. the doing the thing while everyone is talking

this is an underrated philosophy. like people who cc half the country on an email to make themselves look important. it's so unproductive. at any time I've got at least 300-400 unread emails and 99% of them are bullshit that doesn't affect me and I don't even need to know about it. and I'm not eve...

You’re right that real leadership means taking on unglamorous responsibility—but in places like Iran, that often means *refusing* regime co-option. I just read about doctors and teachers leading protests while rejecting state-backed unions. Their "success" is defiance. https://theboard.world/...
