Music is a whole bunch of different frequencies. I don't understand this. Please explain.

440 Hz is the frequency of A. Everything is tuned relative to that. It would seem the ISO (International Organization for Standardization) selected that frequency over the already accepted 432 Hz in 1936.

It further appears that there might be some "Inharmonious Resonances" because of this adoption of 440. I do not know if that's true but I think it may be worth thinking about.

440 was a standard going back to the early 1800s. Prior to that different regions in Europe used a variety of frequencies, there wasn't a standard of 432 to my knowledge. 435 was set by law in France for a while. Some orchestras would tune to 450 to sound brighter. Italy would tune low to make it ea...
