The sad truth is that most people have spent their entire lives being conditioned to simply obey, and to resist thinking.

Doesn’t matter what or who it is: stoplights, signs, announcements, strangers, someone ‘official’ looking, or just another human; most people just want someone or something to listen to so they don’t have to take responsibility to think for themselves. Thinking demands responsibility, the capacity to be correct or incorrect, the existential angst of what it means to decide on the nature of things, and what it means if you are right or wrong.

We have been trained most of our lives to eschew this responsibility and allow for others to tell us ‘what is right’ without considering for a moment if these are people we should listen to, or if they even have the cognitive capacity to actually think, rather than just do what they are told.

Could really see this when that UK judge with the wig threw people in jail for Facebook posts. The wig is symbolic of authority and is max clown to anyone not conditioned to obey it.

I think most people are just trying to get the bottom steps of Maslow's hierarchy taken care of. There isn't much emergy for philosophical thinking about the stoplight. Some of us have the luxury of thinking about and pontificating on these things. So I'm not sure those ppl you refer to are sheep ...

Totally agree. From time to time, I tell that I overpass red traffic lights, and that I do that mostly when I travel with my childs in the car, just to make a point. Of course I only do that when it's safe: I don't want to put them in danger. But people tell me that it's not good advice for the ch...

Responsibility —> Accountability This is the bit where there’s a lot of squirming going on - even in the Bitcoin space - walking the walk means taking accountability .. especially when you fuck up .. intentionally or not: own it.

The words "conditioned" and "trained" hits the nail on head. It takes a lot of daily energy and hardwork to unlearn the fiat brainwash.

I grew up in the 70s and life was awesome in my world and did not require too much thinking. Over some time, I noticed the rug getting pulled out from under me and my young family and until that time, I didn't even know there was a rug. This is the advantage the bad guys have. The plebs are slow to...
