The single biggest red flag in any person is a fast talker who relies on fancy words and jargon.

Complexity often hides incompetence. The people who actually understand something can explain it simply. Beware of those who can't or won't.

Albert Einstein once said "if you can't explain something simply you don't understand it well enough" or something along those lines I can't be bothered looking up the exact quote right now

Conversely, one must exercise circumspection vis-à-vis individuals who exhibit a proclivity for grandiloquent loquaciousness, deploying polysyllabic lexemes and labyrinthine syntactical architectures ostensibly calibrated to obfuscate their fundamental epistemological deficiencies because, as you s...

When you have to use a lot of words, its because it's still jumbled up in your own mind, and the plethora of words are an attempt at transferring belief in something you don't truly understand, so you can feel better about your own beliefs because you convinced someone else of it.

Another tell: the tech zillenial verbal tick of habitually saying "right?" after they assert a weak premise. Before every "right?" is jenga tower of unexamined bs. "Right?" means "please accept as self-evident this cliche masquerading as a premise."

Absolutely. All so-called "intellectuals" use fancy words and complex ways to explain things while hiding the real and simple truths they never want to expose.

Simple explanations reveal what jargon obscures. What field suffers most from this complexity tax?

It's what immediately turns me off a about a lot of podcasters is I hear clumsy use of terminology meant to dazzle their listeners. They sound really fucking smart to people just slightly less knowledgeable than they are however.

Dude. If i was trying to explain something slowly, I would have to be the master explainer for 24/7 --nosleep --awgodno=1 You have a choice: explain it fast and hard and prey the listening party does get it in 50% OR knowingly withold information and prey their reasoning will kick in and they won't...
