I bet it was a shitty tomato too. You can't get good ones at the store, they are engineered for shelf life at the expense of flavor.

insane, where do you live? you can get >1kg of tomatoes for that price here in Spain.

Problem easily solved by carrying a tomato and a knife everywhere you go.
