Does anyone want to help build a new protocol?

As a developer of Nostr relay servers, I'll continue contributing to Nostr and nostrfy. However, I'm concerned that reaching consensus and establishing stable standards through NIPs will become increasingly difficult.

I'd like to start a separate project, independent of Nostr, and aim to build a simpler, more stable, and extensible protocol from the ground up.

This isn't about abandoning Nostr. I still believe in the project and will continue supporting it. I just want to explore a different approach to protocol design and standardization.

It's still an early idea, but I'd love to hear from anyone interested in discussing it or helping build it.

Anyone interested?

Check out https://join.harbor.social by FUTO that sounds something like what you'd be looking for. Dont go abandoning us though

I would be interested in seeing & knowing more. I wouldn't go joining those fediverses fuck harbor social & the rest of them. Do it right here on nostr give your updates here you don't need to go elsewhere for status reports or more. I want to know if you plan on making the decentralization flexibl...

Why don't u force create more NIPs yourself which clients or yours can understand each other. So that other nostr clients and nip can catchup right? ๐Ÿค”

No. This is not the way.

Probably every one of us, especially those who noticed some fundamental design limitations, thought at least once about it; I feel your pain ๐Ÿซ‚ It's more reasonable to focus on much more desperate areas. Nostr is not there yet. Browsers and web frontend standards deserve full reimplementation fr...

I really appreciate all your hard research for us trying to escape from the old protocols. I have been switching among different clients along my nostr journey. Now I am back on #primal because I like their updates. I am a simple nip5 user and I am happy for all you gave us with nostr. Looking forwa...

Interesting. From the other side (I run a small single-purpose relay and write a text-only client), my feeling is that the problem is less the core protocol, which is simple and works, and more the long tail of NIPs that every client implements partially and differently. Replies get lost because few...
