When talking to my friend who works at VLA he was saying the photos are artist concepts. The use radio waves and math to come up with it.
Ask him how NASA is constantly sharing pristine photos of nebulas, stars, planets etc. that are millions/billions of miles away on Instagram, but they can't give us a single raw photograph of planet earth.
