If people hadn't heard about the crazy returns of the early years, they would be ecstatic about 30% returns. I missed those too but (the expected) 30% still beats just about everything else.

Thirty percent is a window that widens or shrinks with the start date you pick, so any CAGR quoted without that date says almost nothing. Outperformance also gets measured wrong: the second-best coin does not add upside, it adds a counterparty and a spread.
