It would be inconvenient to include pre-modern-manufacturing recorded temperatures.

I remember reading newspaper articles pointed out to me about how fruit were getting cooked on the trees in the northern midwest. For all the assholes claiming that temperatures weren't recorded accurately back in the 1930s when that happened... when was the last time THAT's happened in the last 100 years since the 30s?
