It works if you go back to the demographic makeup of 1776. Only certain kinds of people understand honor integrity and putting principles above yourself.
Sounds cute. But, they were slavers. George, Tommy, etc.
Some were trafficking slaves AND drugs.
They were not what you described but murderers, slavers, drug runners and most of all hypocrites for killing off the indigenous people under a “white superiority doctrine.”
