Okay so a Satoshi-era wallet transferred 9k BTC to Coinbase

Good for him, made a fortune just by being patient

But the most important question is: why sell now?

Did the OG whale lose faith in the project? Because if he still hoped Bitcoin was the future of money, he’d sell 100 for living expenses and keep the rest for another decade or so.

Or maybe he’s dying and doesn’t have a good inheritance plan?

Bottom line: when the guys who believed in bitcoin when the price was 0 are exiting, it’s never a good sign. These are the idealists who supported the project since its inception.

Maybe does not believe in hodl to grave. You don't have any information about this individual. So speculation about his situation and intentions are completely worthless.

If it’s Satoshi era then odds are that’s just a slice of their stack.

I wouldn't blame him for losing faith in the project. I lost faith in Bitcoin in 2017 and didn't return until 2022 when I discovered #Monero.

This is a bad take. Whales sell constantly. Every quarter of every year since inception. This is a complete nothingburger. The only news here is why the whale didn't coinjoin before going to a CEX.

9k Satoshi era BTC < 2 pizzas.

if they sold all of that or sell it gradually right now, its over $500 million right now. After taxes, you're still gonna live like a king on a mountain of fiat regardless of inflation and never worry for money another day in your life. I think it's pretty easy to understand why they sold.
