If one can’t know for themselves that #graphaneos is very secure because they lack the knowledge and tools to do so, doesn’t that make any OS secure as far as they are concerned ?

For example I have no idea how iOS is less secure compared to GrapheneOS. iOS claims they can’t have my info as I have enabled advanced data protection.

I know some people here will say grapheneOS is open source and audited etc. All those don’t meant anything to me as I can’t verify them myself or make sense of the implications.

For a commoner like me, iOS feels good enough. What’s a good way to compel someone like me to stick to grapheneOS? In what way can a real world difference be shown to me?

Most of what makes GrapheneOS secure is set up by default. Many of the features are simply additions for people with greater needs and are described on the site page. One can assume a trust in the community, since iOS is not open source, the community wouldn't be able to check and it can only trust the word of the business men behind it. on the other hand GrapheneOS community can and will audit such code, plus it is full of paranoid people, no one trusts no one, ...
