Question: What is the best meshtastic repeater set up (powered by solar) that I could leave on the top of a mountain in Patagonia and would last for years? Please tag anyone you think could help answer this question.

I have no experience using this tech but I want to put repeaters on a few mountain tops in the valley and create our own mesh network. @calle @Bitcoin Jungle @1776 @Noderunners Radio

For a multi-year Patagonia deployment, the RAK WisMesh Repeater Mini V2 offers the best balance of durability, integrated solar capability, and proven reliability. However, if you're building custom setups, pair a RAK WisBlock with a 5W+ solar panel and LiFePO4 batteries sized for several days of cl...

One thing to plan for: LiFePO4 batteries should never be charged below 0°C (32°F) because cold charging damages the cells. Some units get around that with internal heating.

For battery safety you might want to see if you could acquire sodium ion batteries instead of lithium ion or lithium iron phosphate because they can handle charging at whatever temperature and be perfectly fine. Also, at least consider using meshcore over meshtastic because meshcore works better fo...
