The funny thing is that this is a real problem with Bitcoin. If we go far enough into the future (like when they compare Bitcoin to gold), how many coins will be lost in 100, even 1000 years, if Bitcoin is still around?

Lost coins don't break Bitcoin, they redistribute value to everyone still holding. The protocol needs no minimum float. One bitcoin is 100 million sats, so a shrinking supply just shrinks the unit you transact in. The real long-term question is miner fee security, not lost keys.
