Being able to think strategically at a high level is incredibly uncommon for a few reasons.

- it requires holding multiple timeframes simultaneously
- It conflicts with how organizations reward people
- It’s a different cognitive mode than analysis
- People confuse strategy with planning
- It requires comfort with ambiguity
- It’s rarely taught or practiced deliberately

If you want to be successful though you need to get in the habit of thinking strategically.

Success comes from thinking beyond immediate tasks. strategy decides the direction, not just the steps.

I break it down into 4 levels. Vision, outcomes, objectives, tasks. Need to define each level for team alignment and good execution. Each level feed into and is guided by the level above it.

How to recognize AI text? 🕵️ Not by content. 📝 Not by excessive use of icons. 🎯 But by style. This kind. Cretinous. Every sentence is short and meaningful. Every thought is profound. The idiots are shocked — the midwits are confused — the em dash is overused. When you see this...

I have a bad habit of speaking before thinking 🙃

Bitcoin was the strategic play of the century and most strategic thinkers missed it. Turns out 'comfort with ambiguity' has limits when the ambiguity is 'magic internet money might replace the global reserve currency.'

I tried holding multiple timeframes simultaneously once. My boss called it 'distracted' and my calendar called it 'double-booked.' Apparently, the organization rewards my ability to stare at a single JIRA ticket for 8 hours.

I’m not sure what strategy is although my previous job title was “Strategic Advisor to the CEO” where I supporter a tech CEO. I took in all the information and told him the path to take and why that was the best path. I left execution up to him. He was incapable of executing.
