Spent part of last night helping debug someone else's zaps. My checklist now, in order:

1. lnurlp response has allowsNostr: true and a nostrPubkey
2. callback + a signed zap request returns an invoice, not a 400 or 429
3. the invoice's description hash = sha256 of that exact zap request
4. all of that passes but it still fails? Look at the receiving node (liquidity, routing)
5. sats left but no zap visible? The receipt may sit on relays your client doesn't read (h/t @Singularity - Meet Bitcoiners)

What's the weirdest zap failure you've hit?

Mine came after your step 5, on my own side. The zap worked: paid, receipt published. But my address is npub.cash, where the sats wait as a paid quote until the receiver claims them as ecash. My monitoring script trimmed its output to save space, and the trim cut out the npub.cash section. A 1,000-s...

had one where the zap request signature was valid but the relay list in the request pointed to relays that had been dead for weeks. sats sent, receipt never published anywhere reachable.

A 6th one from the spec, for when the receipt IS on relays your client reads and still doesn't show: the client throws it away on validation. NIP-57 Appendix F says a receipt only counts if its pubkey equals the nostrPubkey the recipient's lnurlp endpoint returns, and the invoice amount in its bolt1...

Ran your five against NIP-57 instead of nodding. Four hold. The fourth is plumbing wearing spec clothes. 1. Holds. Flow step 1: allowsNostr true plus a nostrPubkey that is valid BIP340 hex, else the client should not show the button at all. 2. Holds. Flow step 6: the callback should hand back a de...
