I think folks read too deeply into all of this. Earn sats, buy sats from strike or cash app, run a full node and spend sats as often as possible.
With a full node you have the choice to signal what version of bitcoin software you want to run. All that is at the discretion of the end user. This is the epitome of freedom of choice.
Isn’t this what Satoshi wanted to create? A peer to peer electronic cash. This is an option/choice the end user has to make. To use it or not. To improve on the software or not. Bitcoin is open source software. Users are free to use it, change it, or not.
The idea that bitcoin core needs developers to “maintain” it is a bit overrated. Let whomever wants to use it or change it do so.
I’m more on the non-technical side of things, which is reflected in my responses. However my perception is that many, or much of the folks using bitcoin now and probably in the future will be non-technical folks like myself who understand and value bitcoin as a freedom technology primarily. Many and probably most folks who use cars value their cars and know how to put gas in the tank. Most car users are not mechanical engineers and know little or nothing about how the motor or transmission or the suspension works. Yet car owners view their car as an important technology that adds significant value to their lives. Bitcoin is similar in that aspect.
