That’s when the dream began.

Popular opinion: Austrian sound economics built the dream long before. Now Bitcoin is the dream being realized and it has just begun.
KaMeek Lucas Taitt · 112w
Very unpopular opinion, bitcoin is functioning and continues it’s steady growth without a central point of failure. We don’t need anyone to control our money, however we need people to continue building layers on top of a base layer (bitcoin) that doesn’t have someone controlling it.

Some opinions are unpopular for good reason. Like it being healthy to eat concrete or that alligators make good house pets.

I highly recommend the book: “The Starfish and the Spider, The Unstoppable Power of Leaderless Organizations” by Ori Brafman and Rod Beckstrom Not about Bitcoin explicitly but it talks about why centralized leadership in general reduces resilience and adds risk

First I don't think it's an unpopular opinion, as respectfully as I can say it: I think it's a stupid opinion. The dream of bitcoin STARTED when Satoshi left. Because the dream was a decentralized system with no one as the head. That said if you want a 'currency' with an HOA, they're easy to find.
Chris Tavrou · 112w
You seem really disillusioned with bitcoin. Perhaps it's time to move onto something else? Like joining a mafia-state and becoming a dictator, like some of your idols?
unit · 112w
you're free to go ahead and create something better
Rico · 112w
That's either low tier engagement farming, straight trolling or a deep misunderstanding of what Bitcoin is. In any case, if you ever happen to be caught up in a fight against a hydra do NOT chop of its head.

can you expand on this thread? for quite some time your perspective has been respected and you’ve personally benefited immensely since satoshi left. would be interested how you got to this thought. 🙏
Kaizen · 112w
Disagree. Bitcoin was a 0 to 1, a new paradigm based on decentralized consensus and censorship resistance. The conventional way of thinking that ideas continuously need a leader is presently being disproven by bitcoin working and increasingly being used. It's hard for people to understand this. This...

bitdov · 111w
Wrong opinion, not unpopular. Actually quite popular to opt for a leader, it's kind of a disease of the hivemind.
Bitcoin Native Sovereign · 111w
Satoshi leaving was the best thing we could have possibly asked for. He taught us how to be our own banks and then left us with responsibility. Bitcoin would never have be successful if it NEEDED a leader. That was the point.
laguz · 111w
Body can’t function without a head - that is true but not for every organism :) bitcoin is not like a human body - it is more like an octopus’s body (maybe there is a better analogy but I don’t have one now). octopus has its neurons distributed across the whole body, and 2/3 of all neurons are...

Do your kids perish when you, the head of the family, die? (Maybe depends on the kids age) No, they become self sufficient and adults themselves. Satoshi gave us rules and ethics and a path. We don’t need/want a helicopter parent. Embrace the anarchy. Surely not all sibling will be successful t...
