Sure as a network effect if you don’t self host we’d expect only important content to survive. But one cannot kill the concept that is Nostr 😄 🤘

I have my fun on nostr but I think ultimately it's doomed to fail. I believe it will either go the email way (a handful of big tech node operators giving away the expensive parts for free while classifying all small ones as spam), or require people to set up relays to maintain ecosystem health which means people will not use it.

The one true form of decentralization is p2p. Not relays, not federation

It depends on how / if an ecosystem expands. A relay isn’t the most complicated thing to setup so there is still hope 😄. I’m Starting to sound like “The year of Linux on desktop 2026 “ 😆 I do agree with the p2p argument but it would still be cool if we had some kind of shared semi pers...

agreed hard on the p2p point. ...but i also think that p2p is nostr's far future. every npub becomes nearly synonymous with a relay/personal server; plus a mesh or p2p layer for the connectivity and network/discoverability bit

well said, and I agree basically 🤙😔

Nostr fails so long as its growth is tied to “custodial” business models. When non-custody (of identity and reputation) is proven profitable and accessible, tech companies will actually work harder to preserve this. Sustainable decentralization of infrastructure emerges as a byproduct of intrin...
