Update on my ongoing side quest to secure a reliable source of best quality cotton shirting fabric... I've started inquiring with manufacturers about direct importing.

Suddenly I have entered a parallel universe where I will always be expected to pay for a 12 yard bolt. But am guaranteed no more than 9 yards per bolt. Though assured that sometimes I *could* get 13 yards per bolt.

And this isn't just one manufacturer. It seems to be common practice.
