Yeah, it's skips the need for indentation, but it is virtually impossible to read a large thread with multiple branches. It's designed to just show one of the branches and make you ignore the rest and all the bifurcations you can see happening on a regular thread. That's why Reddit for instance, moved away from that model years ago. They found that it significantly cuts the discussion short.
