n/Android, do we want to use Votes or Zaps?

Satellite.earth has implemented the ability to use Votes or Zaps to determine the popularity of the content inside individual communities. The choice is up to all of us.

If we pick votes, that means anyone, including non-bitcoiners, can participate. This mimics Reddit. If we pick zaps, that means people would need to have sats to boost a submission. This would mimic Stacker.news.

Both methods have pros and cons. I am a fan of being inclusive, but I'm also a fan of the value for value model of using Zaps. What are your thoughts?

I love value for value, but a small minority of wealth majority may dominate a space if one is not careful. A minimum threshold would be good, but maybe capping individual influence is in order as well.

What about allowing both but weighting Zaps by some ratio. For example, every 100 sats would be equal to 1 vote.

Zaps v Votes Zaps necessary. It's the whole point. A person must put money where mouth is. Without some cost, spammers win. Weighting Arbitrary. Must come up with the 'perfect formula.' Only certain personality types think they have the 'perfect formula' for everyone, and we don't want them to...

Votes, I'm tired of the BTC echo-chamber

Votes = People feel more engagement which leads to more engagement Zaps = Higher signal per engagement, but may feel like ghost town initially. Could we have Zappable Votes? Everyone can vote - when clicking 'Vote' an option to zap appears 'do you want to zap?' Result has 2 columns, Votes + Zaps
