In future versions of Android, you'll still be able to install apps from "unknown" developers and from "unknown" locations. You'll just need to essentially prove that you're not being scammed and install them after a grace period.
I understand the reasons for this. It's boomers and boomer-like people.
Is this annoying? Yes.
Is this dumb? Medium.
With Android, you have a choice. You can install a custom OS and opt out of this completely or you can wait 24 hours to install your first app from a developer that didn't KYC themselves. You only have to go through this process once.
You aren't even given the choice with iOS. On an Apple device, you can't install a custom OS and you cannot easily sideload applications. That's a big yikes from me, dog.
