The people who are obsessed with nostr and get it are the people you want to fund. These people are insane and have new ideas all the time and aren't good at executing long-term. This is where the bias toward short-lived experiments comes from. Funding a protocol per se is unprecedented, you're right about that.

What about finding ways of making all of this sustainable? My biggest problem with Nostr is that it has no game theory. Bitcoin used cryptography to make the game possible, the game is the main feature.
