I’m working with Inbox zero. E-mails, that requires some actions are moved to “TODO” folder. This folder than works like ToDo list. Other are deleted or just marked as read.

GTD. Do everything that can be done in 2 minutes directly. Everything else goes into my to-do list and is assigned a priority and context.

Batching. There tends to be less communication and less noise if I answer once per week.

Anything that's not email I consider ephemeral and only gets processed on a best-effort basis. For email I'm an Inbox Zero maximalist. Other than that: GTD

Don’t feel obligated if you haven’t promised anything, i.e., don’t feel obligated solely because the sender might feel a certain way if you don’t respond. That’s his cross to bear, not yours.

The best way is to do something that raises the social cost of being affiliated with you, have you tried invading Poland?
