We 100% can do better, but the fact that QR code & trust works well is amazing too, and oftentimes better than existing solutions on smartphones or dedicated PoS devices. Because many times when I try to pay the dedicated bitcoin device is out of battery, or has to boot, or has to update, or has no wifi.

We discussed some interesting ideas in the last #SovEng cohort, but unless you are physically living in place that has lots of merchants that accept bitcoin (and thus you run into these issues all the time) most solutions you'll come up with will suck and be unpractical.
