@nprofile1q... I just tried, so from the hotel wifi it works, but from the mobile 5G network it still gives me a timeout... Wondering if this might be due to some sort of CGNAT shenenigans.

It could also be somebody is clueless about networking and decided to drop ICMP packets. That can work fine until you need them, and then you break PMTU discovery and get weird timeouts.
