When I was young I loved the pop charts. I was a kid in Nigeria, holding a radio to my ear, listening to the UK Top 40.
I had a notebook. Each week, I would assiduously note the movements of songs - up one place, down two.
I liked music, but even more than that, I loved the charts.
These days, the charts mean nothing. This week, there are 4 - FOUR! - songs in the Top 10 that are older than my oldest child! And here's nearly a teenager!
