VHF radio signals travel in straight lines. They are totally blocked by soil, rocks, and bodies of water. If the Earth were a sphere, FM radio stations in Lisbon could not be heard in New York City. If the Earth were flat, they'd come in clearly there 24/7. Do your own experiment!
