how many people out there still have a sit-at-laptop company job?

i keep bumping into people who used to work for a company and who are not working anymore.

everyone i know has who has a job works for government.

i thought it was just me, but now it's starting to feel like it's a lot of people.

and i really wonder what the conversations are like at work for people who still work in companies?

or do people not really gossip anymore about the company's hiring/firing because they were all zoom hires/wfh so when they leave work no one really knows or cares?
